This is where the video of two Mexican guys wanted to go go into a deli and buy sandwiches
and instead of getting served they were getting racist insult remarks by a white male clerk.





1. Q. Definition of what the issue is
1. A. Racism- discriminating a race by their looks and how they live their lives.
2. Q. Two examples of how long this issue has existed in America.
2. A. This issue was around since America was founded. Since Europeans started kidnapping and selling Africans that is how slavery was started. Racism was around since then because colored people were treated/ thought of as dirt. "Raisin in the Sun", shows how racism was in the 1950's and how hard it was to be colored back then.

3. A. Two examples of how this issue exists today are one in some places people discriminate colored people for their skin color. Two there are certain jobs that don't allow certain groups of people.

One of the examples of the ignorance of racism was George disrciminating against his own race and heritage on page:81 he says "let's face it, baby, your heritage is nothing but a bunch of raggedy used spirited and some grass huts". And also on page: 102 Mrs. Johnson says "Negroes invade Clyborne Park bombed".

5. A. The American dream- can be different from many people.

The Youngers' Point of View-
Mama- owning her own house for her and her family
Walter- being a business man, investing in a liquor store
Bennie- going to college, being a doctor
Ruth- being a house wife
Travis- having his own place

6. Q. How does this issue hinder/ promote the American Dream?
6. A. Racism hinders the American dream because there are a lot of things blacks are not allowed to do. There are a lot of jobs that would not allow colored people, so they could not buy the things they want/ need for their family.

7. Q. What was the Younger's American Dream using the text for support?
7. A. The Younger's American Dream has many different perspectives since there are many people in the house hold. First one is a business man, which is Walter's dream. He states many times through out the book that he wants to do big in life. A second American dream is a big house hold with a happy family. And last but not least Beneatha's American dream is to go to college and trace back her heritage.

8. Q. Did the Younger family achieve the American Dream?
8. A. The Younger family achieved only part of the American Dream and that was them buying a house for their family.
